Spittlywood Ltd is based in Ashford, Kent. The team design, manufacture and install bespoke wooden staircases to your specification, and taking a sketched design and making it a reality is a defining part of our business.
Whatever the style, modern or traditional, our handcrafted staircases provide an awe-inspiring finish to a home. From the initial conversation to the completed installation, they are genuinely bespoke.

How it works
Our service
An initial consultation lets us understand what you need. The team then design your staircase accurately in CAD, and once you are happy with the proposed look, manufacture begins.
Materials
Customers often visit the workshop because they want to choose wood by sight and touch. A staircase is frequently a once in a lifetime purchase, so it matters that you are satisfied with the look and feel of what you pick. We will advise on which timber suits your project.
Specification
Styles
The style sets the character of the whole staircase, from the detail on the spindles to how much light gets through it.
Balustrades
The balustrade does more than anything else to change how a staircase feels, and how much light reaches the hall.
Timbers
Treads, strings and handrails can each be specified differently. It comes down to whether the timber will be seen or painted over.
Finishes
All finishes are completely bespoke and carried out in our Ashford workshop. A member of the team will talk you through the styles and finishes available.
What you can expect
Your staircase is drawn in CAD and agreed with you before any timber is cut, so there are no surprises when it comes to installation.
The team work the old fashioned way. Every staircase is completed by hand in our Ashford workshop rather than assembled from stock parts.
Every measurement is taken and checked before manufacture begins, because accuracy at that stage is what makes the finished staircase fit.
Design, manufacture and installation are all in-house, so the same team sees your staircase through from the first drawing to the final fix.
Comprehensive cover comes as standard, giving you peace of mind and assurance long after the staircase has been installed.
We work with private customers and directly with building companies across the South East, so trade enquiries are always welcome.
